Migrating north

Can't help feeling that I should already be heading north for winter. I've heard on the radio that the whales have started heading north for warmer waters, (those lucky enought to miss the harpons of the Japanese whalers who are doing there bit for 'research'). I'd love to actually see that data one day. Important scientific breakthrough by Japanese researchers, "Whale meat actually tastes better with soy sauce than it does with miso sauce!!!!"

Check out this audio of a whale cry...I think roughly translated it is saying something like, tom, tom, tom it's time to go.... What do you think?
this is an audio post - click to play

Anyway, have this desire to get to St. Petersburg one day for the 'White Nights' fesitival. Apparently during mid summer there is a period of about eight days where the sun doesn't go down and the good folk of St. Petersburg hold an eight day party. How cool is that? I went to St. Petersburg about four years ago and it really is an undiscoverd gem. Many call it the 'Venice of the North' as it has a fairly amazing canal system and some really gorgious buildings. It is a city where Russia really is at its most European. It already has become fairly cosmopolitan but I am sure you can still find some russian sauage and a few litres of vodka without too much trouble. I certainly tasted an essence of Russia outside the Hermitage building watching a young man with a dancing bear on a long chain around its neck. I thought the whole thing was a little sad but when he started hitting the bear with a stick I didn't need any Russan language to convey to him with a stare and lip movement that I thought he was a w..ker and he left soon after dragging the bear down the street. Anyway, I'll get back to St. Petersburg one day to the white nights fesitival. The solstice is around June 20 so I'll need to migrate earlier than I am this year. I mean even those bloody kurrawongs have had the good sense to leave the mountains and headed for the warmer climes of Sydney.

Outside my house the last tree to lose its leaves is a small maple tree. There are few leaves left on it but dam it I want to be out of here before the last leaf falls!!!

666

Whoa! Look at the date. It is a wet and foggy day here in the mountains but can't help thinking around the globe there are certain people who are perplexed with the symbolism of this date. I mean how often does 666 come around? I am sure there are some who wont even leave the house today, others who sharpening knifes for some sacrifice, others drinking warm blood. All spooky stuff. Maybe I should pull my head under the doona and stay there all day elsewise I might be covered in a pox!. Hum? Yet the only sign of the devil I have seen is that bloody tiger pear! Don't tell me that stuff doesn't come from satin's own garden!
